Insurance calculations become easier when you separate the setup from the arithmetic. RIBOprep's Calculation Mastery is designed to make the formula and interpretation feel routine.

Calculation areas worth practising

Habitational

Co-insurance, replacement cost, limits, deductibles, special limits and ACV.

Automobile

DCPD shares, physical damage deductibles, liability limits and selected benefit calculations.

Commercial

Co-insurance, business interruption, limits, deductibles and valuation.

Travel Health

Deductibles, co-insurance shares and policy maximums where a scenario provides the numbers.

General

Premium-rate, deductible, percentage and valuation fundamentals.

Interpretation

Know what the answer means after you calculate it.

Original calculation example

A home's replacement cost is $600,000. The policy requires 80% co-insurance. How much insurance is required to satisfy the clause?

A. $120,000
B. $480,000
C. $600,000
D. $750,000
Correct answer: B. $600,000 × 80% = $480,000.
Exam trap: The co-insurance percentage is applied to the value at risk to find the required insurance amount.

A better way to practise math

  1. Write the formula in words.
  2. Identify which numbers matter.
  3. Calculate one step at a time.
  4. Apply the limit or deductible in the correct order.
  5. Explain what the final number represents.
